Young Adult Services is a specialized program initiated in 1996 by TCR’s New Vitae Mental Health Center in cooperation with TCR’s residential services. Young adults, age 18 to 25 years old, are offered clinical services through New Vitae’s Outpatient Clinic and Partial Hospital Program supplemented by in-home and in-community Community Treatment Team services. These supplemental services include mentoring, independent life skills assessment and training, therapeutic recreation, social skills development, pre-vocational training, educational tutoring, substance use counseling, and employment and education supports.

This extensive array of services is provided by New Vitae’s trained and experienced staff, who assist the young adult clients carry out an active schedule, offering role modeling guidance and structure everyday whether in the clinical offices, utilizing community resources or in their home. The Young Adult Service offers strong values delivered within a structured program and environment which reinforces responsibility and self management. Hands on efforts are focused on symptom management, acquiring independent living skills and building self-esteem.

The mission of the Young Adult Service is to create a safe, caring environment where individuals with severe psychiatric and behavioral difficulties can receive customized clinical and supportive services to aid the transition to a productive adult life. Goals include offering creative, individualized treatment and supports using a one-to-one approach.
